CEMETS iLab Nepal
In 2023, CEMETS took a new approach by offering its first country-specific institute. This initiative, called the CEMETS Implementation Lab (iLab), aims to help Nepal’s TVET sector grow.
CEMETS is all about helping education systems improve worldwide. We bring together reform leaders from different countries in our Summer Institutes. But what happens after a country like Nepal attends our institutes year after year? The next step might be seeking support through the CEMETS iLab.
After attending the Summer Institute, Nepal kept working on improving its TVET sector with help from the Chair of Education Systems, external pageKathmandu University, and the external pageSwiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The iLab Nepal is a partnership between Kathmandu University and CEMETS, funded by the SDC.
The ultimate goal of the iLab is to build capacity among Nepal’s own TVET leaders so that the sector can continue to improve. It links current research and evidence on TVET systems to the Nepali context through online course content, live online events, and live in-person events. Teams also partner directly with experts from ETH Zurich and Kathmandu University during workshops to improve and support reform efforts and ensure successful implementation.
At the end of the iLab, a group of experts will select the best team. The top team will earn a spot in the CEMETS Summer Institute 2024 in Switzerland. Keep an eye out on our website to learn about the winning team!
This collaboration shows the commitment of CEMETS, Kathmandu University, and the SDC to making Nepal's TVET sector stronger, offering hope for a brighter future for education in the country.
