2017 CEMETS Summer Institute was a Huge Success

This year, teams from as many different countries as Benin, Chile, Costa Rica, Nepal, Serbia, South Africa, and the American states of Colorado and Washington attended the CEMETS Summer Institute from June 28 – July 7 in Zurich. The goal of this institute is to learn from a strong VET system like the Swiss one and to work together on each team's plans to improve their own VET systems.

Teams from Benin, Chile, Costa Rica, Nepal, Serbia, South Africa, and the American states of Colorado and Washington attended the 2017 CEMETS Summer Institute from June 28 – July 7 in Zurich. Participants and CEMETS faculty spent ten days together visiting companies that train apprentices, learning how strong VET systems function, and working on plans for improving the teams’ own VET systems. This year’s institute was intensive and collaborative, with each team bringing a unique perspective that improved everyone’s experience.

Also in this year’s institute, we were joined by PhD students from the Swiss Leading House’s course program on Economics of Education. The PhD students worked with reform teams as sounding boards for ideas and on the CEMETS research project around reform implementation.

The 2017 Summer Institute also included the official launch of the CEMETS Alumni Club, which will enable us to maintain stronger post-institute contact with participants and facilitate multiple research projects. We are excited to see how all of the 2017 teams progress in the short and long term!
